You need to give finding a job the time and attention it deserves. When we say it needs to be a full-time job, we literally mean that you need to devote 40+ hours to hunting for a job every week.
This includes actually sending out applications, doing job interviews, and networking with people within your industry.
Up Your Social Media Presence
Networking events really are not happening during the pandemic. If you are lucky, you may stumble upon a small event happening via zoom, but for the most part you cannot rely on in-person networking events.
This is why you should up your social media presence. Your LinkedIn page is just as important as your resume. It needs to be organized and up-to-date. You need to regularly post things on LinkedIn as well as comment on other peoples’ posts.
You also need to remain professional on all social media accounts affiliated with you. This means that you shouldn’t post anything that might dissuade a hiring manager. Remember, just because you’re not friends with your boss on Facebook doesn’t mean that your boss can’t see what you are posting.
Call in Some Favors
If you have any friends or family members within your network who are working, they may be able to help you find a job as well. Always let people know when you are looking for a new opportunity because they may have something within your realm of expertise.
Take a look at who you are connected with on LinkedIn. They might alright have a job with you in mind, but don’t know that you are open to opportunities.
