My resume isn’t working either: You are not alone
We’ve all been there. We recently got laid off our job, and now we are back on the hunt. After what feels like an eternity looking for jobs, we just can’t seem to land anything. This often makes us beg the questions,
“Why isn’t my resume working?”
My resume isn’t working right now and how can I make it more interesting?
I know that I should have had interviews by now, but I am feeling as if I’m wasting time and money and my life is not going the way I wanted it to go.
I was desperate to get my job back after being unemployed for so long. I had great references, years of experience and all I wanted was a job that could pay the bills. So I took a job just to help me make some money and put me in a position to apply for a job. I was ready to start over.
One day, I was on the phone with my friend and she told me about a job she’d landed that paid her quite well. She said they had a job fair on the first Wednesday of every month. Ultimately, I decided that the job fair was worth my time. After a week, I sent out my resume, but I had a bit of concern. Again, I was asking myself, “Why does my resume not work?”
I was excited for the job fair, but I did not have any confidence in my resume going into it.
I went to the job fair and it went great! I applied for the job and got it! The relief that I felt after was extraordinary, and I have never been happier.
For a long time, I assumed that the problem was just my resume. I did not think that it could be any other factor. It took me leaving my comfort zone o attend a job fair to finally land the job that I wanted. I would like you to know that you are not alone if you are experiencing this issue.
Keep your chin up, and keep on grinding. You’ll land the job you want!
